Publisher description
A monster wave throws Denny DeWitt onto the ocean floor, instantly paralyzing him. The undertow tosses his limp body and starts to pull him out to sea. His lungs burn for air. Another powerful wave slams him into friends who quickly carefully float him to shore. His wife Twink, kneeling beside him on the beach, hears the Lord whisper, "Trust Me." The fifty-year-old dentist retired from the Air Force just six weeks earlier. Now the couple's missionary plans lie inert on the sandy shore. Thus begins a new adventure, the challenge to develop a lifestyle of trust. With passionate but immature faith they follow the two words they each heard separately on the beach, 'Trust Me." Without a vast knowledge of God or understanding why they should believe Him, they come to rely on Him daily. Walking through more trials, studying God's Word, and learning from others, their understanding of God deepens. Trust, they discover, means letting go of what we think is best and relying on the One we trust. Faith takes on strength and new meaning as fear and doubt fade. The illustration of the Trust Diamond shows how God turns the pressure of life events into sparkling diamonds, proving we can trust Him in all circumstances no matter what! In the diamond metaphor, facets represent whom we trust, why we trust Him, how we learn to trust, and how we maintain a lifestyle of trust. It's all about character: God's and ours! His is unchanging, whereas ours should change daily to become more like Him. Once we understand the strength and love of who God is, we do all we can to be like him. The brilliant light of Jesus enters through the top of the Trust Diamond. The more space we give Him, the more light can enter. It gains intensity as it refracts from one facet to another and releases an incredible sparkle in the life of a believer. The facets on the bottom part of the diamond, the pavilion, reflect the powerful and loving aspects of who God is. The facets on the crown of the show how each believer's faith grows. After all, no two people are the same. They include a life of prayer, obedience, love and more. Other facets show that trials and experience can build faith. Developing a strong Christian life allows us to know enough and love enough to entrust our lives to our Heavenly Father. Every individual Trust Diamond sparkles with the light of Jesus. Twink uses stories, sometimes humorous, from her own life to demonstrate the principles brought out in the example of the diamond. These incidents show the reader that God has faithfully protected, provided, comforted, and loved the DeWitts, no matter what. The stories take the reader beyond the teaching into their own fortified trust in a powerful God who loves them. Each chapter ends with Trust Application questions for further consideration, study, and growth. Once we experience the wonder of who God is, we want to rely on Him completely. In their trek through tough times, the DeWitts find it's not the power of their trust; it's the power God in whom they trust
