Learning disabilities are intrinsic to the individual and may affect learning and behaviour in individuals with average or above-average intelligence. These are not because of visual, hearing, motor or cognitive impairments, emotional disturbance, or environmental disadvantage. These may arise from genetic, biochemical factors or events resulting in neurological impairment. Further, it is a neurological disorder. In simple terms, a learning disability may result from a difference in the way a person's brain is wired. Children with learning disabilities are at par with their peers in terms of smartness.
