Publisher description
The impacts of stress on health have been well documented and include both positive and negative health outcomes. However, little is known about perceived stress in graduate students and even less is known about perceived stress specifically in female graduate students. The purpose of this study was to add to the current body of knowledge regarding perceived stress, coping and health behaviors among female graduate students. A total of 161 female graduate students were surveyed using the Perceived Stress Scale, the COPE questionnaire and health measures. Results showed a significant relationship among perceived stress, coping and health among female graduate students. Significant differences were also found in coping by age, employment, primary caregiving and school status. The findings from this study could potentially aid graduate school personnel in tailoring wellness programs that address the health needs of graduate women
