Publisher description

Your question-and-answer guide to pregnancy

Product Description: Are you pregnant? Are you planning a pregnancy? Do you feel confused or powerless because you don't know where to start? The Pregnancy Power Workbook will mobilize these feelings into action by giving you the tools you need to become an empowered pregnancy professional. Armed with this power, you can take your pregnancy care to a new level.

In the current market of guides, nothing resembles this book; readable, useable, and practical, this guide provides a concise system that allows you to be on the same page as your medical team, to speak the same language, and to work towards the same goals. Focused questions, generally presented in the first person, guide you from preconception through delivery in a style that encourages and enforces personal knowledge. These simple questions reveal the answers you need to know during the weeks and months of a normal pregnancy.

SummaryThe Pregnancy Power Workbook transforms women considering a pregnancy or those already pregnant into empowered pregnancy professionals.

Until now, publishers have presented pregnancy guides in a large, textbook-style format. The overwhelming details of pregnancy can often cause information overload for readers. These books assume women can readily:

1. Find the information they need
2. Mentally and conceptually process the important issues
3. Accurately incorporate what they have learned into their personal pregnancy lifestyle

The "mental fog" that comes with pregnancy frequently complicates women's ability to perform these seemingly simple functions. They need a guide that allows for a systematic appraisal of current knowledge and a structure that reinforces and builds on that knowledge.

With over 30 years of combined medical and obstetric experience, this OB/GYN physician and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner recognize that many women desiring a pregnancy or receiving care during their pregnancy do not know what questions to ask. The authors envision a book full of the right questions, a book that leads to empowerment, knowledge and optimization of health prior to conception. With this type of inspired learning, proactive involvement before, during and after pregnancy becomes the norm. Based on current standards from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the structured, simple question format of The Pregnancy Power Workbook reveals the answers everyone needs to know during the weeks and months of a normal pregnancy.

No book can guarantee a health outcome for both mother and baby; however, The Pregnancy Power Workbook optimally guides a woman and her family through the pregnancy maze, allowing for greater preparation participation, knowledge, and understanding.

About the Authors

Dr. James Betoni (Obstetrician) and Nurse Practitioner Camilla Bicknell (Women's Health) have called upon their combined 30 years of experience caring for pregnant women to construct this exciting and innovative pregnancy guide. With compassion built from personal experience, Dr. Betoni has dedicated 16 years to his profession as an OB/GYN physician. His experiences include providing high-risk obstetrics and gynecology care in private practice and community health clinic settings. He realized his dream by completing his fellowship subspecialty training in Maternal Fetal Medicine in June 2010. He now works full time providing this specialized obstetrical care to women with high-risk pregnancies. With many years in the nursing profession, including 32 years of Naval service, Camilla focused her practice and became a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner in 1995. Dedicated to the most underserved in her community, she continues to provide prenatal and gynecology care at a large Community Health Center in Colorado Springs
